Workshop Biological Materials Science at TUMCS

On June 6 and 7, a workshop on “Biological Materials Science” took place at the TUM Campus Straubing (TUMCS). The international workshop with exclusively invited, top-class speakers with a focus on biogenic, bioinspired, biomimetic and biohybrid materials for innovative optical, photonics and optoelectronics applications was organized by Prof. Cordt Zollfrank (Chair of Biogenic Polymers) and Prof. Rubén D. Costa (Chair of Biogenic Functional Materials).

Among others, Olle Inganäs (Linköping University Sweden) gave a lecture on Designing ion conductors and electroactive organic solids for electricity storage from biological origins. Franziska Thomas (Institute of Organic Chemistry, Heidelberg University) also gave a talk on A shaping journey: Exploring (the world of) self-assembling peptides. In total, more than 20 scientists gave presentations from their fields of research. There was also plenty of networking and socializing.

Many thanks to all participants and the organizers for the excellent event!
